Is Ash retiring from full-time Bollywood career?

Published

It seems Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will not get the chance to dream about Rebecca's 'Manderley' as rumours of Ash planning a 2014 comeback with Mani Ratnam film based on the 1938 novel by Daphne Du Maurier - Rebecca - have been denied vociferously by none other than the filmmaker's wife Suhasini Ratnam.

Speculation is still rife on which film will finally launch Aishwarya's great comeback to Bollywood ever since she decided to take a sabbatical and enjoy a blissful life with her daughter Aaradhya.

However, Aishwarya is not really in the laid-back mode and given the recent developments, is Aishwarya leaving a full-time career in the Hindi film industry behind and moving towards a more global, hi-profile career?

Ever since she has been appointed the new international Goodwill Ambassador for UNAIDS, she has been rubbing shoulders with big international personalities.

During her latest trip to the Big Apple, she met a number of high-profile people such as US Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton, Hollywood actors Michael Douglas, Forest Whitaker, Naomi Watts and former basketball player Shaquille O’Neal.

She also met International supermodel Christy Turlington, Deepak Chopra as well as other heads of states, reports Indian daily Hindustan Times.

Has Aishwarya spent the last one year planning her life post-Bollywood career? Is that why she is no longer interested in maintaing a perfect figure? Her brief hiatus from work has stretched beyond everyone's expectations. Does the recent trip to the US highlight her future plans? Till she or anyone from the Bachchan clan confirms these doubts, there will be a lot of speculation around Aishwarya's retirement plans.

Meanwhile, Suhasini Ratnam told The Times of India that the news of Ash and Mani tying up to work on Rebecca were false. In fact, Mani is currently busy shooting with his crew for 'Kadal'.

The maestro has yet to think about his next project and it will take him the better part of a year to write his own script. So any gossip about him talking to any stars for his next project is just that 'gossip'.

It looks like Aishwarya's fans have an endless wait before they can, if ever, watch her on the big screen again. Meanwhile, they will have to manage with her brief appearances in Page 3 parties, brand endorsements, special events or ad films.

Watch this space as we let you know what's cooking in Aishwarya Rai's life.
