Armed Forces deals worth Dh3.3bn signed on day 3 of Dubai Airshow

Staff Pilot Air-Vice Marshal Ishaq Saleh Al Baloushi, Executive Director of Industries and Development of Defence Capabilities at the Ministry of Defence, and Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Dubai Airshow, DAS, 2017 Operations, announced eight deals worth AED3.34 billion on day three of DAS with three local and five international companies.

At a press conference, Al Baloushi said a contract with Raytheon Corporation was signed to buy GBU-12 and GBU-10 bomb accessories, materials and devices for AED2.5 billion. C4 Advanced Solutions was contracted to provide communication and information technology services and logistic support for two years against AED305.5 million. Bel Tech Exports was contracted to provide maintenance and rehabilitation services for AED57.5 million.

He also highlighted the fact that a contract worth AED165.28 million was signed with Etihad Airways to provide transport and shipment services of materials and equipment. A contract worth AED74 million was signed with Turkish Chemical and Mechanical Industries Corporation to purchase MK-82 and MK-84 bombs.

Swiss Rheinmetall Air Defence AG was signed up to buy 35 m. calibre artillery ammunition for air defence for AED2.67 million.

Al Baloushi added that IOMAX, a US entity, was contracted to provide and rehabilitate maintenance services of Air Tractor planes against AED41.32 million. Also signed in was local CAE Inc. to set up a training centre for systems for AED157 million.

The first two days saw 11 deals worth AED6.5 billion and eight deals worth AED 3.27 billion respectively, thus bringing the total value of transactions of the first three days to above AED13.13 billion.
