One of the iconic retail landmarks of Abu Dhabi city, the Madinat Zayed Shopping Centre & Gold Souk, was recently relaunched after a major expansion, which saw addition of more than 70 new stores and food outlets.

Managed by Line Investment & Properties, a division of EMKE Group, the shopping centre has also added the group's flagship Lulu Hypermarket as its anchor store.

Speaking at a press conference, Raja Abdulkhader, director of Line Investment & Properties, said: "This mall has been part of the scene in Abu Dhabi and we wanted to make it even more convenient and vibrant for residents and tourists alike. It has always been our endeavour to bring world class shopping and leisure options to the large cosmopolitan population of this city.”

Located in the heart of Abu Dhabi, the mall has many advantages like easy access, convenient parking for around 1,600 cars, access to public transport, etc.

“We have added around 70 new stores and food outlets through this extension and now we have more than 460 outlets, making Madinat Zayed Shopping Centre the mall with the most retail options for shoppers in Abu Dhabi,” added Aboobacker A M, general manager of the mall, said.

With its souk-like ambience and a large variety of offerings  --from garments and accessories to home décor and electronic gadgets to multi-cuisine food outlets and family entertainment centre, Madinat Zayed Shopping Centre is sure to be a popular family destination.

Aboobacker added: “Our main emphasis was on bringing more convenience and variety and that’s what shoppers will find in our new extension apart from the jewellery stores in our gold souk. Restaurants such as De Thali and Tanjara are already popular and new fine dining concepts are set to open in the next few days.”

Starting this weekend, the mall is also launching “Meharjaan”, the weekend family fun and cultural show. Nandakumar V, corporate communications manager of the group, said: “It will be a month-long weekend event in the food court and will showcase Middle Eastern dances, magic shows, games and competitions where visitors could win hundreds of fabulous prizes. This is targeted at both kids as well as parents in line with our theme of providing family entertainment.”
