Al Maya, Korean corporation sign products distribution MoU

Dubai-based Al Maya Supermarket has signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation to promote quality Korean food products in the GCC market, said a senior company official.

Al Maya is the first supermarket to sign such an agreement with the Korean body.

Kamal Vachani, Group Director of Al Maya Group, and Jae Soo Kim, President of Korea Agro-Fisheries, signed the MoU on behalf of their companies. The South Korean Consul General Seong Doo Ahn also attended the function.

Al Maya will introduce Korean food products into the market through its chain of supermarkets, Vachani said, adding that there is a huge potential for Korean food products in this part of the world and the Korean products are very well accepted by the customers here.

Al Maya Group currently operates more than 40 supermarkets across the UAE and GCC and plans to open more by the end of 2015, added Vachani.
