The 2011 edition of ArabPlast, a trade show for rubber, plastics and plastic processing, will be 25 per cent bigger than the 2009 edition, with the show occupying nine halls of the Dubai World Trade Centre, show organisers have said in a media statement.

A summit, to be run concurrently with the exhibition, will discuss key challenges facing the growth of the raw plastics and petrochemicals in the GCC region.

Al Fajer Information and Services and German exhibition organiser Messe Dusseldorf are in a joint partnership to organise the ArabPlast exhibitions.

Satish Khanna, General Manager, Al Fajer Information and Services, Co-organiser of the show, said: “The Gulf is the export hub of plastics raw material to the world, thanks to companies from the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia that are making this industry a key contributor to GCC economies.”

The show is expected to showcase latest technologies and track market trends of the Middle East plastics and rubber industry, which continues to be the world's largest exporter, offloading the majority of its output to international markets.

Companies from a number of countries, including Taiwan, US, Turkey, Egypt, Canada, UK, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Hong Kong, China, Switzerland, Spain, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, UAE, India and Iran are participating in the show.
