Egyptian tourism office opens in Abu Dhabi

Sami Mahmoud, head of the Egyptian Authority for Tourism Promotion, announced the transfer of the regional office of the commission from Istanbul to Abu Dhabi.

This was announced at a ceremony at the JW Marquis Hotel in Dubai.

He added: "The new tourist office will promote tourism to Egypt in each of the six GCC countries,  and Jordan, Lebanon."

He explained that the number of Gulf tourists to Egypt number about a million annually, supporting the Egyptian economy by about $ 1.5 billion.

This is expected to increase by the end of this year to $2 billion.

He said: "Although tourists from the UAE come after Saudis, Kuwaitis, Jordanians and Lebanese, they are characterised by a high rate of spending - up to $4,000 a day, while European tourist spending does not exceed $75 per day."
