The Emirates Group intends to hire an additional 2,000 Emirati citizens over the next five years under a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abasher.

Launched by the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the initiative is aimed at promoting the inclusion of more UAE nationals in the labour market, specifically in the private sector.

The group said the initiative receives keen interest and follow-up from Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

The agreement details cooperation between the two organisations with the goal of employing 2,000 Emirati citizens over the next five years to work in various departments of the group.

Abdul Aziz Al Ali, Executive Vice-President, Human Resources, Emirates Group, said: "We are proud to be a part of this initiative from the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Under the guidance of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, the Emirates Group signed the MoU with the Ministry of Presidential Affairs. The personnel hired as part of this programme will work in all fields and at all levels across the group including specialities such as engineering, ground services, inflight services, flight crew and overseas station management."

For more than 20 years, the Emirates Group has had a dedicated team specialising in the recruitment and training of UAE nationals and the new MOU will further complement this.

The MOU, in preparing for the recruitment of Emiratis, sets specific recruitment targets each year through the exchange of information on applicants between the Emirates Group and the Ministry of Presidential Affairs. Using this information and through regular meetings, the team will develop mechanisms to implement the Absher initiative within the Emirates Group.

The Emirates Group is also working closely with the Abu Dhabi Emiratisation Board and the Tanmia organization, benefiting from their ability to recruit nationals.
