If the rising cost of summer airfares has you firmly grounded over the holiday period, then the turn of the season may bring good tidings to your door.

India’s budget carrier Indigo has just released its UAE schedule, with flights between Dubai and Delhi commencing on September 1, with return fare prices starting at Dh816.

The daily flight departs Dubai at 10.15pm, arriving in the Indian capital at 3.10am.

Those eagerly waiting for the launch of the Mumbai sector will just have another month of anticipating, with flights between Dubai and India’s entertainment capital launching on October 2, with return airfare starting at Dh816 also.

The daily flight departs Dubai at 8.25pm (except Thursdays) and arrives in Mumbai at 1.10am. The flight on Thursday departs at 7.55pm.

Tickets are already on sale through the airline’s website.

An email was sent to the airline earlier today, but a response is being awaited.

Meanwhile, Emirates 24|7 spoke to a few consumers who were jubilant at the news, but still a bit skeptic on the pricing.
“It’s too bad that we miss the Eid break by a few days, but it is finally a boon that a budget carrier is connecting Dubai to India’s major metros,” said Akaash Mehra. “Agreed that Air Arabia does the same, but the hassle of driving to Sharjah from other Emirates can be a deterrent. This is good news indeed.”

Priyanka Mitha is a bit wary of the prices though, saying: “Every airline starts off with a bang, offering great bargain prices at the beginning. But let’s hope the stability in pricing is retained in the corresponding months.”
