In sharp contrast to the picture painted by recent reports of falling house prices leading to a slowdown in Dubai’s property sector, the sector remains buoyant, as evidenced by major players continuing with their hiring plans post the traditional summer period.

Dubai-based property developers Emaar Properties, Nakheel and Meraas are all looking to hire for fulfilling several positions across a number of their departments, with most of the jobs open to expat candidates.

Emaar is looking for candidates including concierge and a select few for its most iconic project The Burj Khalifa, in addition to vacancies in its community management department, finance, information technology, facilities management, community service, as well as its theme park Sega Republic in Dubai Mall.

The developer says it’s looking for passionate, enthusiastic, energetic, flexible team players, who will enjoy the excitement and challenges of working for a rapidly growing global organisation but does not mention the salary levels or pay packages.

Research by www.payscale.com shows female employees form 37 per cent of Emaar’s total workforce.

The salary for female employees who contributed to the PayScale postings ranges between Dh37,095 and Dh146,874, and for male employees (who disclosed their earnings at PayScale), the range is between Dh72,985 and Dh390,162 per annum.

These figures have been derived from the data provided by a set of anonymous employees on the website and not verified by Emaar.

Dubai-based master developer Nakheel too is looking to hire employees across several of its departments.

The roles it needs to fill include tenancy coordination & design manager, retail marketing manager, operations manager, lease admin assistant, document controller, HR executive, draftsman, business process analyst, mall coordinator, and hospitality attendant, among others.

For several of these jobs, the closing date is September 1, so be quick if you wish to apply.

Independent and anonymous reviews by former employees on website www.GlassDoor.com give the company 3.3 stars out of 5, and 34 per cent of its participating staff members say they would recommend the company to a friend. Salary details or benefits have not been specified.

Meraas Holding, another Dubai-based master developer, is also looking to hire for several jobs that have been posted on its website. All the jobs posted by the company are full time and Dubai-based.

However, no information on salaries or benefits is publicly available.

The company is looking for business yield analysis officer, risk manager, rides and attractions technician, retail leasing manager, operator cinema, customer service officer, commercial coordinator, internal audit manager, entertainment manager among many others.

The company has made several initiatives in various macroeconomic sectors including tourism, leisure, real estate, development and asset management, the most prominent one being Dubai Parks and Resorts, which will include a Legoland, a Hollywood amusement resort and the first Bollywood movie theme park.

“As part of Meraas, you will work in an autonomous environment that promotes self-expression and innovation. Employees will join a dedicated, supportive team that works in synergy and is focused on achieving the best results. We empower you to develop your skills, strengths and build your capacities in your chosen careers,” reads the hiring pitch on the company’s website.
