Korea Medical Tourism Festival 2014 to begin in Abu Dhabi tomorrow

Korean Tourism Organization (KTO) announced it will hold first Korea Medical Tourism Festival 2014 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (Adnec) on October 28-29th from.

This two-day event will feature a variety of presentations by hundreds of participants who will help visitors discover and experience the various medical technologies and services as well as Korean culture and tourism opportunities.

Korea’s medical tourism industry has been expanding at an average rate of 38.4% annually since it began promoting this sector back in 2009. Last year, it welcomed 122,297 medical tourists from across the globe including the UAE that recorded the highest number of arrivals among GCC residents with a growth rate of 32.1% compared to the previous year.

With the growing rate of overseas travelers seeking health care and medical services in Korea, KTO expects a rise approximately of 600,000 medical tourists by 2015 and one million by the year 2020. Bank of Korea confirmed the highest increase in income from medical tourism to date with $187 million in the first 11 months of 2013 alone – a 35.3% increase from the previous year.

In meeting with the growing interest of UAE citizens and residents in seeking treatment overseas, Korea Medical Tourism Festival will be highlighting some of the country’s most qualified doctors and medical experts from leading hospitals of Korea. In addition, visitors of the festival will be offered free medical treatments at this event in order to experience Korea’s medical capabilities first-hand. These include General Thyroid Ultrasonography, Beauty treatments and Oriental Medical experience.
