Nakheel to award substation contract at Deira Islands

Nakheel on Wednesday approved the award of consultancy services contracts for eight substations on Deira Islands, its new, 15.3 sq km waterfront city in Dubai.

Two engineering consultancies, Green Energy and Energoprojekts, will carry out design review and infrastructure site supervision services for the 132/11kv substations that will supply power to the four-island development, the company said in a release on Wednesday.

The announcement comes two days after Nakheel awarded a contract for almost Dh40 million to RSP Architects, Planners and Engineers for design and supervision work on Deira Islands Mall.

Deira Islands will add 40km, including 21km of beachfront, to Dubai’s coastline and pave the way for hundreds of tourism, leisure and residential developments.

Last month, Nakheel launched the tender for the design and construction of nine beaches at Deira Islands, and in April awarded contracts worth over Dh47 million to the US-based AE7 company for infrastructure design and architectural and engineering services for the project.
