London-based specialist recruitment company Pemberton Partners has opened an office in Dubai to target the Middle East region.

A statement sent to Emirates 24l7 said that the company will help meet growing need for specialist human capital consultancy services, focusing specifically on investment banking operations to its regional clients.

Barbara Van Meir has been appointed to lead the office, and is a Director and Head of Middle East & North Africa (Mena). Barbara has more than ten years’ experience in executive search in London and the Middle East, operating at a senior level. After initially working at Whitehead Mann in London, she moved to join to a boutique firm, specialising in investment banking.

Barbara brings strong contacts in the Mena region, where she has been based for the past eight years. She managed the financial services practice for a local boutique, leading a team of four and completing a wide range of projects for investment banks and asset managers based in the fast-growing Mena region.

The firm aims to become a leading niche human capital consultancy that operates across both EMEA and Asia Pacific (Apac) markets. It is currently developing Apac activity from its London office and expects to open a regional office in 2012, in either Singapore or Hong Kong.

Non-executive director John Burnett is playing a key role in Pemberton’s regional expansion. Formerly an HR Director at Invest AD, Europe Arab Bank and NatWest, he was appointed non-executive director of Pemberton Partners in 2009.
