RAK Airways to fly to Jeddah, Calicut from Oct 10

RAK Airways will start flying to and from Jeddah and Calicut from October 10 and will start with offers on fares as low as Dh10.

The airline will offer 30kk free baggage allowance, free overnight parking, complimentary hot meals and free transportation from all UAE emirates, except from Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.

It will use 737-400 single class configuration and plans to break even on the first year.

The airline, however, denies it is a low-cost airline saying it rather "offers big value for passenger", Omar Janaheh CEO said.

He said the company is still studying further expansion plans. "We keep options open," he said on whether to lease or buy new planes.

RAK Airways suspended its operations in May last year but is now looking at taking advantage of a recovering economy, according to Sheikh Omar bin Saqr Al Qassimi, the airline's chairman.
