Dubai-based developer Union Properties on Sunday said it broke ground on Dh680 million Phase 3 of Green Community expansion in Dubai Investments Park (DIP).

The project will feature 227 units including 210 townhouses, 16 duplex apartments and retail space.

Wade Adams has been awarded the contract to carry out the enabling work for the project, while Dewan Architects and Engineers are lead consultants.

“Enabling work is scheduled to be finished by the end of the first quarter of 2015. We will issue the tender for the main construction in early February, as we aim to complete the third phase of the project by February 2017,” company Chairman Khalid bin Kalban said.

In September 2014, the Dubai Financial Market-listed company had launched three projects worth Dh2 billion, which included phase 3 of Green Community, DIP, Dh1.1-billion The Vertex in MotorCity, and Dh400 million phase 2 and 3 of Green Community, MotorCity.

“We have seen a steady rise in demand and more uptake in the Green Community and so we have decided to expand the company’s flagship project the Green Community to accommodate a large number of buyers and investors,” he said.

The new phase of the project will offer health and leisure facilities such as gymnasium, outdoor swimming pools, Jacuzzis, tennis courts, squash court and an event hall for social activities. There will be shaded pedestrian connectors and sidewalks to facilitate pedestrian accessibility throughout the neighbourhood.

Currently, the Green Community has a total of 1,555 villas in the two phases.
