World's most dependable airlines: UAE carriers rank?

For the airline industry, travellers’ demands are not restricted to just safety.

Today’s travellers have increasingly become image and brand conscious, pondering over not only airfare but also airline’s reputation in terms timely departure, baggage cost and the age or quality of the fleet it operates.

It matters most to frequent fliers – and they have plenty of options to choose from for travelling from a range of airlines.

A global survey carried out by a travel portal found that two UAE carriers, Dubai’s Emirates and Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways, have been listed among the most dependable airlines.

Emirates, which flies to more than 142 destinations, achieved 97 smart rating for its 232-aircraft fleet. While 15-ranked Etihad notched up 86 smart rating for its fleet of 105 planes, according to travel portal Wanderbat’s recently released poll figures.

“Emirates airline always leaves an excellent experience. You’ll get value for the money paid at all-time. Their Dubai Connect and Stop over will make you feel you are being treated like a King,” commented Olushola Lawal on the travel website.

“Best airline I’ve been on by far, I’ve travelled on 86 flights and they've always come out on top,” commented Anthony Havlin.

According to Wikipedia, the largest airline in the Middle East operates more than 3,500 flights per week – which comes to 500 a day or 21 every hour – from its hub at Dubai International airport to more than 142 cities in 78 countries across six continents. While Etihad operates more than 1,000 flights per week to 96 passenger and cargo destinations.

Apart from the two UAE carriers, other regional carriers Qatar Airways and Saudi airline has been rated among the most reliable airlines.

The travel portal rated 22 carriers as most dependable. First was ranked Qatar Airways followed by Emirates, China Eastern, Singapore Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Air China, British Airways, Saudia, Cathay Pacific Airways, Lan Airlines, Tam Airlines, Japan Airlines, Egyptair, Etihad Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Qantas, Aeroflot, China Airlines, Philippines Airlines and Air Berlin.
