Zurich appoints Anas Al-Otaibi as Kuwait General Manager

Zurich, one of the world’s leading insurance groups, on Wednesday announced the appointment of Anas Al-Otaibi as Kuwait General Manager. A Kuwaiti National, Al-Otaibi will lead the rollout of Zurich’s General Insurance proposition in Kuwait. 

In November 2011, Zurich rebranded its subsidiary in Kuwait, Compagnie Libanaise d’Assurances (CLA), as Zurich Insurance Middle East S.A.L. Al-Otaibi will now lead the expansion of the insurer’s operations in Kuwait and oversee the launch of a range of products tailored to the needs of Personal and Commercial customers in the country.

“As Zurich continues to expand its presence in Kuwait, Anas’s in-depth understanding of the local market will be invaluable,” said Maroun Mourad, CEO of Zurich’s General Insurance business in the Middle East. “Over the coming months, Zurich will begin the gradual rollout of a broad range of new insurance products tailored specifically to the needs of customers in Kuwait. We have ambitious plans for Kuwait which will be achieved by extending the global Zurich promise - of delivering when it matters most – to customers in the country.”

Al-Otaibi joins Zurich from Gulf Insurance Company (GIC) where he led the company’s Al Takaful Insurance Unit. Reporting to the CEO, he was responsible for expanding GIC’s risk management solutions to cover all Islamic compliance market segments.

Al-Otaibi said: “I am delighted to be joining Zurich at an exciting time in the evolution of its Kuwait operations. Al-0taibi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from Kuwait University, College of Business Administration. He also holds a number of professional insurance qualifications from the Bahrain Institute of Banking And Finance and Chartered Insurance Institute.
