Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat) has lowered diesel prices by 20 fils a litre across all its service stations effective from December 30, 2014.

The new diesel price will be Dh3.10 per litre, down from 3.30 a litre, Emarat said in a statement.

Emarat is revising the price of diesel in line with the international price trends for crude and refined products, said Hussain Kazim, Senior Manager Corporate Communications at Emarat.

Earlier this month two other companies announced to reduce the price of Diesel. Emirates National Oil Company (Enoc) and Eppco fuel stations both decreased the price of diesel with 20 fils from Dh3.50 to Dh3.30, stating the same incentives for the price decline.

Emarat earlier lowered its diesel price from Dh3.70 to Dh3.50 and then again from Dh3.50 to Dh3.30 per litre on December 18. With the latest price decrease it offers the lowest rate for consumers in Dubai.

“The recent decline in international prices has provided us an ideal window of opportunity to pass on the price benefits to diesel users. The price decrease will have a positive impact on the overall economy given the vital role that diesel plays in the logistics sector,” said Kazim.

He said the price revision is expected to benefit the manufacturing sector and other supply companies with large fleets that use diesel.
