Dubai launches Energy Report

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, has presented the State of the Energy Report: Dubai 2014 to the diplomatic missions of the member states of the United Nations, as part of the requirements to achieve the national initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The report provides key pointers on energy in Dubai and the most salient steps taken by the Emirate to secure energy to meet its requirements, while maintaining focus on green sustainable development. It was developed to highlight the successful steps that promoted Dubai's leading position and is an important milestones in its efforts to become a an ecological- and trade-friendly economy on a regional and international level. This is set to improve the outlook for the UAE Vision 2021 for the UAE to become one of the best countries of the world by 2021.

Al Tayer also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Helen Clark, UNDP Administrator at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York to organise the UAE-led 2014 World Green Economy Summit (WGES) in association with the Dubai Green Economy Partnership, which will be held in Dubai on 15-16 April 2014, in conjunction with the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2014).

The event was hosted by the UAE's Permanent Mission to the UN, attended by its ambassador, HE Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations, along with senior representatives from other organisations.
