Al Khoory Automobiles, distributor of Subaru vehicles in Dubai and Northern Emirates, is expanding by opening more showrooms and service centres in the Norther Emirates.

The company on Monday announced opening of 40,000 square feet brand new Subaru showroom and service centre in Sharjah at a cost of Dh40 million.

“Launch of Subaru showrooms and service centre is a part of our strategic expansion plan. Over the next two years, we are a looking at an investment of Dh40-50 million in the UAE market. We plan to open new showrooms in other Northern Emirates with Ras Al Khaimah being first in the pipeline,” said Nayyar Zaidi, General Manager, Marketing & Sales at Al Khoory Automobiles.

“In 2011, the brand has shown steady growth with sales going up by 40 per cent. For 2012, we are targeting a growth of over 45 per cent,” said Zaidi.

“Subaru was among the few brands to register growth in the US, China and other markets in 2009, considered a difficult year for the global automobile industry. Expansion for Subaru in the UAE comes in the wake of an upswing in the local automobile sector and greater interest in sport, sturdy, fun and safe-to-drive vehicles,” said Yashusi Nagae, General Manager of Sales and Marketing of Fuji Heavy Industries for CIS, Middle East and Africa.

Al Khoory also announced the launch of latest crossover compact SUV-Subaru XV which the company expects an upswing in demand and hoping for an ambitious 10 per cent share of Japanese SUV market in the UAE.

“We are looking at expanding Subari SUV market in the UAE. While the demand for SUV is still there, there is a greater preference for smaller 4x4s as buyers take fuel efficiency and the environment into consideration,” said Zaidi.
