Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has awarded a contract worth Dh12 million to supply, extend and commission main water transmission networks, with a total length of 8.3km, from Al Qudra road to Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

The project aims to meet the future demand of water in the Solar Park project and surrounding areas.

"Dewa seeks to enhance the efficiency and transmission capacity of water supply in the emirate to meet the growing demand for water services from all sectors including customers and developers.

The Dh12 million development project also reinforces our emergency supply plan and supports the sustainable development of Dubai," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dewa.

"The project covers the installation of 600mm-diameter Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) water transmission network pipelines across 8.3km, and is scheduled to be operational in January 2016," concluded Al Tayer.
