Dubai firms to set up 5-star resort in Sardinia

Dubai-based Alpha Tours and Paramount Hotels will join hands to set up a five-star resort on the Italian Mediterranean Island of Sardinia.

The two firms and another UAE investor will sign an agreement for the project within the next few days, Alpha Tours chief executive officer Ghassan Al Areedi said.

In comments to the Abu Dhabi-based hotelandrest.com website, he said work on the project would begin in early 2014, adding that it is the first UAE private investment venture on Sardinia, an autonomous region of Italy and the second largest Mediterranean island after Sicily.

Areedi said the project would include 200 rooms and suites, restaurants, an SPA, swimming pools and gardens.

“The project will be designed in a way that will cater for the needs and tastes of tourists from the Gulf, Russia, China, Japan, the US and other countries,” he said without specifying the project costs.
