Bilateral trade between Dubai and Kuwait increased more than 6 per cent in the first half of 2014 to reach Dh10.3 billion, Dubai Customs said in a press statement.

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, said Dubai-Kuwait trade grew 19 per cent in 2013 to reach Dh18.9bn, and added that Dubai aims to further increase trade flow with its GCC neighbour.

In the first half of 2014, imports totalled Dh2.3bn, exports reached Dh2.4bn and re-exports stood at Dh5.5bn, he said.

Musabih along with Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, made the statements while receiving a high-level delegation from Kuwait Customs to reinforce inter-GCC cooperation and exchange of expertise. The delegation was headed by Khalid Abdullah Al Saif, Director General of the General Administration of Kuwait Customs.

The parties also discussed potentials of future collaboration in customs business.

“Dubai continues to support the growth of inter-GCC trade through high-end trading and customs facilities and services backed by steady investment in infrastructure,” he said.
