Feeling underpaid can be a very demotivating factor for any employee and can add to stress levels in the long term.
Quite often you may be paid less because you are stuck with a wrong employer in a bad company but there are times when many do not know their worth and accept something which does not do justice to their skills set and the market value.
But, this could be a thing of the past as now you can find out what should your salary be like. Job search engine Adzuna, has come up with a new tool that filters through the data available on the website and gives you an estimated salary that you should be looking at. This depends on your skills and experience and salaries of peers in similar roles and industries.
All you need to do is access the tool called 'Value my CV'. The user needs to upload his/her CV to the site's tool. You can also use your LinkedIn profile if you don’t have an updated CV.
The tool then analyses over 50,000 CVs and develops algorithms to model the patterns in the data. Next, your CV is taken and the tool uses text mining to extract a range of information including your work history, education and skills. Then, this is run through the algorithms and you get a statistical estimate of your market value.
This can help you get a ballpark figure to discuss if you are going for a job interview or are just in a mood to negotiate an increment with your boss.
