Dubai World Central (DWC), the world’s first purpose-built aerotropolis, has today announced that a new state-of-the-art storage facility owned by RSA-Talke is being constructed in DWC’s Logistics District. Built to international safety and quality standards and equipped with separate sections for chemical storage, the new facility will offer definite logistical advantages to the Gulf region with more than 19,000 pallet spaces.

It is expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2014, said a press statement.

RSA-Talke will deliver a broad spectrum of logistics services for non-hazardous and hazardous materials, as well as a location with good traffic and transport links on the grounds of Dubai World Central. The facility provides direct connections not only to regional and international road and sea routes but also to Al Maktoum International Airport, the world’s largest airport.

Adding a new dimension to the core offerings of Dubai World Central, the project is expected to reaffirm the reputation of DWC as a lucrative destination for logistics companies looking to establish a strong presence in the UAE and regional markets. RSA-Talke benefits from the fully integrated logistics, aviation and business infrastructure of DWC as well as easy access to major road networks in Dubai. DWC further explained that the success of international logistics companies such as RSA-Talke will help enhance the reputation of Dubai as vital link in the global trade of non-hazardous and hazardous materials.

Richard Heath, Director Middle East & Asia at Talke and Director at RSA-Talke, said: “The production as well as the import and export of specialty chemicals is gaining in importance here in the Gulf region. The new RSA-Talke storage facility strongly positions us to capitalize on the rapid market growth by taking advantage of the dedicated, state-of-the-art logistics infrastructure at Dubai World Central.”

Abhishek Ajay Shah, Director of Operations & Business Development at RSA and Director at RSA-Talke, said: “In line with the sustained growth of the market, we support our customers by providing added capacity for high-quality and safe logistics services through the new RSA-Talke storage facility. Moreover, Dubai World Central is strategically located and offers unique multimodal capabilities, which opens a wide range of opportunities to grow and further expand our business across the region.”

RSA-Talke is a joint venture between RSA Logistics, a provider of transport and logistics services headquartered in Dubai, and Talke, a German chemical logistician based in Hürth near Cologne. Each partner holds a 50 per cent share of RSA-Talke. For the Talke Group, the logistics complex is the latest expansion of its presence in the Middle East, joining locations already operational in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain.

Dubai World Central consists of 8 fully integrated districts, helping drive business in different industries, including aviation, logistics, commercial, real estate and exhibitions.
