Adnoc denies warning against topping car tank

Abu Dhabi-based fuel retailer has denied issuing statements circulating on the social media that if the car tank is filled to the maximum it could cause explosion due to the summer heat.

“Adnoc Distribution wishes to confirm that a statement on social media platforms attributed to the company on the dangers of fuelling car tanks to maximum capacity in summer months has not been issued by us. The statement implies that doing so could potentially result in fire/explosion hazards in summer,” the company said in a media statement.

“We would like to point out that filling fuel tanks to full capacity does not imply any risks as all car fuel tanks are designed to withstand pressure build-up in high temperatures,” said Khalid Hadi, Vice President Marketing and Corporate Communications at Adnoc Distribution.

“Furthermore, Adnoc Distribution has not registered any such previous incident. The rumour attributed to us is based on unknown sources, and is therefore completely false.”
