GE to open new oil & gas facility in UAE

GE Oil & Gas on Wednesday announced ground-breaking of a new facility that will further expand its presence in the UAE in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafz).

Scheduled to open in 2015, the new facility spreads over an area of 22,700 square metres and can accommodate over 300 employees. The facility will offer services by GE Oil & Gas’ various business units, thus strengthening customer service standards.

The new GE Oil & Gas Manufacturing & Technology Centre will offer training programmes and also feature a dedicated repair centre that will help improve the speed of service.

Rami Qasem, President & CEO of GE Oil & Gas for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, marked the ground-breaking for the facility in the presence of Talal Al Hashimi, Chief Operating  Officer of Economic Zones World, Ibrahim Mohamed Al Janahi, Deputy CEO of Jafza and Chief Commercial Officer of Economic Zones World, and other senior officials of Jafza and GE. A project overview of the facility and its features was presented to the attendees during the ceremony.

Scheduled for completion early next year, the new facility of GE Oil & Gas in Dubai will act as the hub for its businesses and will be one of the largest such facilities of GE in the region. It will have a dedicated administrative block, workshops, conference rooms and employee welfare amenities.
