Work on the Dh57.5 million Dewa project to supply, extend and launch the 600/900mm water-pipeline network in Palm Jumeirah is significantly progressing.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has so far laid  2,907 metres of the 3km project.

When completed, the project will raise water supply to meet the increasing demand for water, and support current and future projects on the Palm.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dewa, said, “The main goal of this project is to enhance efficiency of the water-transmission networks, and increase water supply to meet the increasing demand for water to support current and future projects on the Palm and its sustainable development.”

“The project includes extending 600/900mm Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) main pipes along the trunk of the Palm through the tunnel until it reaches the crescent of the Palm. So far, 93 per cent of the total project has been completed,” he added.

“The project is going according to plan. Work on the extension and launching of the networks is expected to be completed next October,” Al Tayer said.
