OLED TVs are not the number one priority for Sony now. The company says it will concentrate on 4K LED and even as it continues to work on new advanced technology.

This was revealed by Arai Satoru, Head, Sony Middle East Marketing Company at an event in Dubai yesterday where the latest range of 4K LED TVs were unveiled.

Sony Middle East and Africa announced three new series comprising nine models in the region.

The range includes the flagship 85 incv X9500B, the 65 and 79 inch X9000B and the 55 and 65 inch X8500B.

Speking to Emirates 24l7, Satoru said the company has been currently enjoying a 30 per cent market share in the UAE as far as 55 and 65 inch LED and 4K models are concerned.

“We will continue to perform in the same range the next year as well,” he said.

When specifically asked about Sony launching an OLED TV in the 55, 65 and higher range models he said, “Currently out focus is on advancing 4K and LED technology. However we eill continue working on developing other technology. But there are no plans for now to release an OLED or a curved YV,” he said.

Samsung and LG have both launched multiple OLED and curved models although Sony was the first to come out with an 11 inch OLED way back on 2008. But it stopped there and has since focueed on 4K models. Reports also indicate that  almost 50 per cent of Sony’s line up this year could be 40 to 50 percent of Sony's line-up this year will be 4K models.

Meanwhile, at the IFA in Berlin Sony unveiled what it calls the curved LED. The S90B series (75/65), has a combination of curved LCD screen and multi-angle live speaker system and is a new series of 4K Ultra HD BRAVIA TV.
