Google, LG strike back at Samsung

Google has joined hands with LG in an effort to hit back at Samsung, as the latter plans to abandon Android and launch its own open source operating system Tizen in its forthcoming series.

Google’s Nexus 5 will be in coordination with LG and the two have planned to go a step ahead of Samsung and its Galaxy S4 in terms of hardware.

Samsung has made no secret of its plans to introduce its own Tizen OS and recently confirmed to Emirates 247 that it is in the advanced stages of development.

Woo Jun, Director of Telecommunications Group at Samsung Gulf, said that Tizen would be deployed when it is ready and added that: "The focus would continue to remain on Android".

However, it is now being reported that Samsung’s next major release could be powered by Tizen and not Android as the South Korean giant will be better equipped to handle the pressures of launching a new platform.

Samsung, which manufactures both Android and Windows-based phones, has already expressed its disappointment with the latter.

Samsung CEO J  K Shin is reported to have said that smartphones running Windows Phone are not selling well and that the company prefers to come up with devices using Android.

LG Megalodon vs Nexus 5

Meanwhile, according to latest rumours and reports, the LG Megalodon will boast a 5-inch display with a 1080p full HD resolution, the latest Snapdragon processor, an improved 2GB RAM and storage options. The 3140 mAh battery should last much more longer than any of the current series of smartphones. Google is expected to power it up with Android 5.0 and launch it by October 2013.

Among the surprise new features in the Nexus 5 could be a 16mp camera powered by none other than Nikon.

A report by Phonearena indicates that the camera will feature innovative features that could at least partially replace the DSLR camera

“Our source indicates that Google is actually prepping something to wow us not with the overall specs, but in the camera department," the report said.

Also, the Nexus 5 provided it is equipped with Qualcom’s Snapdragon 800 will be capable of ultra HD 4K video recording that enables four times the resolution of a regular HD videos.
