Even as Apple’s new iPad is selling like hot cakes, a leading online consumer watchdog, Consumer Reports says its tests proved the new tablet turns too hot while gaming.

Consumer Reports engineers  while running tests conducted using a thermal imaging camera recorded temperatures as high as 116 degrees Fahrenheit on the front and rear of the new iPad while playing Infinity Blade II. This is about 13 degrees warmer than the previous version.

The New iPad has had record sales during the first three days registering about 3 million sold units.

According to Consumer Reports the tests followed numerous complaints about how hot the new iPad can get while doing processor-intensive tasks, such as gaming or downloads.

“We ran our test while the new iPad was propped on the iPad Smart Cover, plugged in, and after it had run Infinity Blade II uninterrupted for about 45 minutes. The device's 4G connection was not turned on, though its Wi-fi link was. The ambient room temperature was about 72 degrees,” the report said.

Apple’s own recommendation restricts the use of iPad in environments over 95 degrees.

However when unplugged the tests showed that it reached temperatures as high as 113 degrees Fahrenheit.

However it is still not proved if the recorded temperature can cause any harmful effects on human body.
