iPhone 5 released: But Android beats Apple again!

After yesterday’s unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, a tablet-smartphone hybrid, at the IFA electronics show in Berlin, Android-based devices are once again stealing the march over Apple’s iOS with the recent launch of an Android-based ‘iPhone 5’.

Yes, you read it right – A Chinese online vendor is now selling the Goophone I5, an Android-based copy of Apple’s fabled iPhone 5.

Notwithstanding the fact that the iPhone 5’s specs and looks are still subject to rumours, Goophone, which has in the past released the Goophone Y5 4S – an exact replica of the iPhone 4S – claims that the I5 is all what the iPhone 5 will ever be.

For those who can’t wait to lay their hands on the new iPhone – and are wary of patented imitations – the Chinese version may yet offer the closest (and least worrisome) option.

The Android-based version of the device is available even before the actual device can get a chance hit the market and wow the audience – perhaps on September 21, 2012.

The device features the rumoured two-tone back design as well as a quad core chip, although exactly which type is unknown.

Rather disappointingly, however, the Goophone I5 comes with a regular 3.5-inch display with 940 x 640 pixels – in contrast with strong rumours that suggest that the iPhone 5 (or the new iPhone, or just iPhone) will definitely feature a larger screen size of up to 5.5-inches.

A 5 megapixel camera on the back and 1.3 megapixel snapper on the front complete the known specs.
