Did you just buy a brand new iPhone 5s at the Gitex Shopper earlier this month? Chances are that it may be sporting a faulty battery – but don’t worry, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will replace it with a brand new one.

In an uncharacteristic move, the Cupertino-based Apple has acknowledged that some of the new iPhone 5s units that it has sold have a problem with their battery, and has promised to offer brand new phones to affected users.

Teresa Brewer, a spokeswoman at the technology giant, admitted that Apple was aware of the issue. “We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5S devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life,” she said in a statement to New York Times.

The company, however, did not specify the number of devices that sport the faulty battery, which is fuelling rumours that the smartphones-maker may be in for some financial damage owing to replacement of such faulty devices. A limited number out of the estimated 15 million-plus iPhone 5s phones that Apple has sold so far might just end up running in hundreds of thousands.

“We are reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone,” Brewer was quoted as saying.

“I think I have one of the fast dying batteries 5s. Last 6 hrs and just texting not even a lot. Has iOS 7 on my 5 and was nowhere near this. Brightness 1/3 back grounding off. I would also like to know if I can add if you replace for bigger hard drive [sic],” wrote user Sour412 on Apple’s iPhone 5s Discussion Board.

Another user, rissachai, complained that their “iPhone 5s won't connect to wifi after 7.0.3 update,” resulting in a barrage of other users to recommend a variety of solutions.

User gail from maine, has an issue with the speaker of their new iPhone 5s. “I just recently purchased an iphone 5s and today my speaker located at the rear end of my device is not sounding clearly, it sound muffed and blurry. Is there any way I could get a new one or get this fix for free?”

Some of the other issues that early iPhone 5s adopters have highlighted have to do with motion sensors including the Level, Gyroscope, Compass, and Accelerometer on the Apple iPhone 5s, that are supposedly not working properly and delivering inaccurate results.

That’s what was supposed to be fixed by Apple’s newly released the iOS 7.0.3 update, but it seems that some users that have installed the update are experiencing other issues emanating from the update itself.
