Microsoft smart watch coming

Microsoft is all set to make its foray into making smart watches as tech experts predict that what you wear on your wrist is what will determine the future course of technological advancement.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Microsoft has been acquiring spare parts, especially 1.5 inch touch screens to make a watch like device and could soon follow the likes of Apple, Samsung Google and LG.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Apple is already in advanced stages and has recruited more than 100 engineers to create something that could take the company to the next level like it did with the iMac, iPhone and the iPad.

It has been no secret that Samsung is also working on a smart watch project. As Bloomberg recently quoted a senior Samsung executive as stating that it has been working on the project for quite some time and could be out in the market by the end of the year.

“We’ve been preparing the watch product for so long,” Lee Young Hee, executive vice president of Samsung’s mobile business, told Bloomberg during an interview in Seoul.

Last month it emerged that LG too is working on a smart watch project. Reports said the LG smart watch could be powered by Firefox OS rather than Android.

Add to this the likes of Sony, Pebble, Cookoo, I’m Smart, MetaWatch and Martian. By 2014 we would be writing about the top ten smart watches in the market.
