For those aspiring to buy an Xbox One in the UAE, the time could well be here.

The pricing of the gaming console has been dropping ever since Microsoft announced plans to come out with a new upgraded model in June.

In the UAE, an Xbox One with 500GB storage, but without a Kinect, can be currently purchased online for Dh999.

The device, launched in 2013 was priced at $500, and was selling at around Dh2,000 mark in the UAE.

Microsoft has officially dropped the price of the Xbox One to $249 from $299 across the United States, which could soon reflect in a drop in prices in the UAE.

Making the announcement on Sunday evening, Microsoft said: "This means any 500GB Xbox One console is $249, including the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition bundle, the Special Edition Quantum Break bundle with white console, and the Name your Game bundle, which allows you to choose a full game download of one of four blockbuster titles: Forza Motorsport 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, or Rare Replay."

Larry Hyrb, Director of programming for Xbox Live took to Twitter to update the news.

The company has already started accepting pre-orders for the new console in the US. The new Xbox One S will start at $299 and will allow users to watch Blu-ray movies and stream video in 4K Ultra HD video, with content from partners like Netflix and Amazon Video.

Xbox One S also offers High Dynamic Range (HDR) support for video and gaming and comes with a newly designed Xbox Wireless Controller featuring textured grip.

Microsoft, however, removed the dedicated Kinect port from the back of the latest upgraded console. Kinect for Xbox One will still be compatible with Xbox One S via the Xbox Kinect Adapter for USB connection and offers the same great experiences as the current console.
