SEDD receives HCT students

Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” received a delegation from the Higher Colleges of Technology – Women Colleges, which comes within its concerns to strengthen strategic relations with academic organizations, and concerns to raise the output of universities to meet the needs of the labor market.

Also, such meeting was held in order to provide the students with the necessary professional expertise in their fields of specialization, introduce them with the economic work environment, developing their abilities and skills, and enable them to perform their future mission in building the country.

At the beginning of the meeting, Abdelaziz Al Midfa, Deputy Director of Government Communication Department at SEDD, welcomed the students. Al Midfa stressed on the importance of providing the needed information and skills to the students which comes in accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, whom calls for activating the role of government agencies in playing their social responsibilities towards developing the potential and skills of students and enabling them to perform their future mission in building the country as well as to conduct the economic studies.

Al Midfa added that SEDD pays great attention to receiving students from various educational institutions in the country, wither to educating them about the Department’s work or for training them. In addition, Al Midfa emphasized that such visit aims to link economic studies with the practical reality of the main topics and requirements of the Sharjah economy and develop the capabilities of female students.

Also, such visit seeks to inform the students about the procedures adopted at SEDD in various areas.

Through the visit, Al Midfa displayed the role that SEDD plays in attracting investments in various economic fields. He clarified that the Department was able to reach such a thing through the participation in different exhibitions and conferences which helped in adding to SEDD’s success in the areas of excellence and innovation.

Al Midfa also stated that the Economic Department places a distinctive mark in all exhibitions and conferences in which it participates with many federal and local authorities and the private sector to reflect the Department's strategy to support mutual cooperation and promote effective and fruitful coordination in line with its vision that aims to review the distinguished experiences.

In addition, he highlighted SEDD’s achievements and unique efforts in attracting investment and providing a competitive environment that attracts investment, which is considered one of Sharjah Government’s strategies, in order to achieve sustainable economic development.

 Furthermore, Al Midfa stressed that SEDD promotes for its services and the means of investment available through the participation in such exhibitions. Also, it clarifies the quality of existing investments and the required activities as well as the availability and adequacy of infrastructure in the Emirate for investors.

Al Midfa also pointed out to the investment climate of Sharjah saying that it is characterized by advanced infrastructure and high efficiency. In addition, SEDD provides many facilitates for investors whereas it prepares and implements the economic plans, conducts economic studies, develop investment systems and provide an appropriate environment for investment.

All of this can be gained through simplifying procedures and facilitating them for investors in addition to establishing trade and investment cooperation relations with counterparts in many regional and international countries.

Moreover, the visit included a tour of the various departments and sections at SEDD in order to review the procedures, tasks and mechanism of work in each of them and the latest techniques used at the Department of Economic Development.

Then in the end of the tour, the delegation expressed their gratitude and thank for the reception and for the great efforts placed by SEDD that reflect the continuous development in administrative, professional and economic aspects adopted which go in line with the highest international standards.
