It was widely expected that Apple could announce the launch date of its much rumoured iPad mini on October 10. It has already been four days since.The news now is that the ‘mini’ will be launched on October 23.
Microsoft has planned to launch its Surface tablets a couple of days later and Google is expected to come up with an upgraded version of its 7inch Nexus tablet.
It was Fortune report that first indicated that the invitations for the iPad mini launch event would be sent out on October 10. The launch itself was expected to be set for October 17.
But now another tech magazine All Things D
is reporting that Apple will unveil its new iPad mini on October 23, just days before two other tablet launches.
Quoting sources familiar with Apple’s plans the report said, that the company will unveil the so-called “iPad mini” on Oct. 23 at an invitation-only event.
Microsoft is expected to release its Windows 8 and its first tablet - Surface on October 25. Google’s Nexus 7 is expected to get a facelift, thanks to a 32-inch upgrade.
The iPad mini is expected to come with a 7.8” screen with more of an iPhone 5 look and design dual camera and obviously run on iOS6.
Microsoft’s Surface that comes in two versions, the RT and Pro will have a full HD screen and a cover that incorporates a keyboard and is slated to be an ideal replacement for notepads, apart from dual cameras and an internal memory ranging from 32, 64 and 128 GB.
Weather the Microsoft Surface and Google’s Nexus 7 be able to steal the thunder off the iPad mini, we will have to wait till the last week of October.
