UAE iPhone lovers can pre-book orders...delivery on Sept 23

Grey market in the UAE has started taking pre-orders for the new iPhone5 for delivery on September 23.

Just a day after Apple announced its new iPhone5, grey market in the UAE has started accepting pre-orders for the phone. A top-end 64GB model is being sold for as high as Dh6,000, more than twice the original value.

Emirates24|7 spoke to many sources within the grey market, who confirmed that the new phone will be made available in the UAE within 48 hours after it is launched in the United States, Europe and South East Asia.

“We have already started taking preorders for the new phone. We will be pricing the 16GB model at $700. It will be made available within two or three days and will be factory unlocked,” says Ziad Usman a grey market operator who posted his advertisement in Dubizzle.

Another trader who has also listed his advertisement in another UAE-based classified website says he plans to bring in a 64GB model and plans to sell it for Dh6,000. “You will get the phone in hand on September 23. I also have many units of the iPhone4S, iPhone4 and older models,” the dealer said.

This website had reported earlier about classifieds in the UAE filled with advertisements with iPhone users trying to sell off their old models.

The numbers have further increased during the last 10 hours and ever since Apple announced its new iPhone5.

Prices have been dropping by the hour and today an old iPhone is selling for as low as Dh850.

Order it online from UK, via Shop & ship service. It will be much more cheaper, and will cost you 3 more days.

Don't get caught in the hype and buy the Iphone5 of the grey market! 1) you need a Nano-Sim for it to work in UAE which neither Etisalat or Du have currently stocked. 2) Du and Etisalat will both launch Iphone5 with attractive data packages and subsidies. Over a year it can add up to the entire price you pay for the phone. 3) Both Etisalat and Du will launch Iphone5 at the suggested Retail price by Apple which will be in most cases upto 60% cheaper than the Grey market prices.

First of all, don't buy iPhone yet, a plenty of features are not going to work in UAE or may be the whole of iPhone will not work. 2ndly, go to London n buy it from there, it will be still cheaper than 6k. If you can wait little longer, get Windows Phone 8, Lumia 920.

Fools who think they will get 6k for iPhone. I think people are smart now and won't pay that sort of money.
