20-year-old mom hacked to death

Colombo: A 20-year-old mother was found dead in her home in Niyawala area last week.

According to ‘Lankadeepa’, the young woman was a garment factory worker and had been living alone with her three-year-old child.

She went to work during the day and slept at her relative’s home every night. That fateful morning, she returned to her home and was murdered.

Police arrested the suspect – a retired soldier – who allegedly hacked her to death.

The toddler is being taken care of by the woman’s relatives.

The suspect allegedly deceived her by promising to marry her, the report added.

Investigations continue.
