A Pakistani mother allegedly forced her daughter to work a prostitute to meet expenses for the girl’s medical treatment and her parents’ pilgrimage, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The girl, ZM, who had not yet completed 17-years of age was arrested in Sharjah on call with a customer.

Investigations into the accused in case moved it Dubai Court.

The girl claimed that her mother RA, 42, brought her from her home country to work in a saloon.

“My mother came to the country six months earlier and worked as a housemaid. She called me and told me that she found me a job in a saloon.

“She took me to a flat in Dubai where my mother and father told me that I will work in prostitution. As I refused, my mother abused me so I agreed to help. My mother also wanted to build a house in my home country and to pay for my grandparent’s pilgrimage expenses,” testified the girl who is being treated as a victim.

The mother sent the girl to a man who assigned his wife to take charge of the girl.

“She took me to a hotel and a man there paid the woman Dh10,000. The woman then came and picked me up and then, my mother shared the money with the woman,” said the girl.

After a month from work, the girl’s father left the country and she continued the same way.

Medical tests showed that the girl is now 12 weeks pregnant.

Police have arrested the mother, who admitted that a man called ‘Raja’ asked her to pay a debt back to him.

As she could not, he suggested making the girl work in prostitution to pay the money back to him.

“My daughter told me that we are poor and that she does not mind,” claimed the mother.

The girl claimed that she did not have a means to call the police and that a customer refused to help her in this regard.

The court assigned a defence lawyer for the accused and will reconvene on September 1.
