1gm of opium costs man 4 years in jail

A court in Fujairah sentenced a Pakistani man to four years in prison and ordered his deportation from the UAE after he was convicted of having one gm of opium.

Police had arrested the man, identified as RM, when they suspected he was drugged. When they searched him, they found one gm of opium with him.

“During interrogation, the man confessed to possessing the stuff and said it was for personal use,” Alkhaleej newspaper said.

Stolen car used to bootleg booze

Sharjah Police has arrested RTM, an Indian national, on charges of theft of a Toyota Camry car in the Al Khan area.

An Arab woman expatriate had informed the police about the theft of her car from a sandy area near a building in Al Khan.

500 bottles of alcoholic beverages were found in the stolen vehicle.

RTM admitted that he had used the stolen vehicle for trading in alcoholic drinks to avoid being noticed by the police.
