Two Arab doctors are on trial in Ajman on charges of causing the death of a 14-year-old Arab boy by failing to diagnose his appendicitis case.

The boy had been rushed to hospital with severe pain but the two doctors told his father that it was a simple case and gave him panadol.

He took his son back home but the pain did not stop, prompting the father to take the boy back to the hospital.

“They again told the father that there is nothing wrong with the boy…he took him back home and later he died,” Emirat Alyoum daily said.

It said the two doctors were accused of committing a medical error as they should have performed an urgent surgery on the boy.

Screw found in a lollipop in RAK

An Emirati girl returned home in Ras Al Khaimah and happily opened a lollipop she had bought from school when her father jumped on her. Staring in disbelief, the father noticed there was a screw stuffed inside the candy piece.

He took the sweet to the RAK municipality, where they examined it and decided to punish the suppliers, according to Alkhaleej newspaper.

“The municipality said it had imposed a very big fine on the suppliers of those lollipops,” the paper said.

“Officials said the fine was big because of the seriousness of the offence…they stressed that they would not tolerate offences related to public health.”
