2 Dubai friends fight over bar girl, one dies

Two friends fought over a bar girl which led to the death of one of them due to head injuries and stuffing of his mouth with sand, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

A 31-year-old jobless Emirati, SIA, has been charged for  murdering his friend and consuming alcohol.

Second Lieutenant Adel Ali testified that on July 16 he was asked to rush to the scene of a brawl that resulted in the death of one man.

Ali said he reached at the scene at 10.30pm and rushed the victim’s the body to the hospital.

“I saw  drops of blood on the sand and a piece of cloth soaked in blood. I asked the victim’s brother about the incident and he identified SIA as the attacker. I went to the accused’s house and asked his brother to send him out. The accused came out and handed me a mobile phone and a wallet of the victim,” Ali said.

The accused told the police officer that he walked passed the victim’s house carrying his pet monkey and the victim wanted to talk to him. The victim asked his brother to leave him and the accused alone. The two talked about a bar girl who was the victim’s girlfriend. The victim asked the accused to stay away from her.

The accused claimed that the victim asked him to fight it out, so they went to a nearby place. While the accused was tying up his monkey, the victim surprised him with a knife attack in his back. As he turned around the victim threw sand at his face and rushed towards him to insert his fingers into the eyes of the accused. The accused punched him in his face and kicked him till he fell down. He bit his nose and poured sand into his mouth. When the accused noticed that the victim was having breathing difficulties, he stopped. The victim asked the accused for water. The accused knocked at the door of a nearby house and got water. However, the victim’s condition did not improve. The accused took his pet monkey and rushed home. He woke up his brother and asked him to inform the family of the victim about their son,  the police officer testified.

The victim’s brother ASA, 21, testified that he was supposed to go out with his brother but because the accused came to their house in an abnormal condition and wanted to have a chat with his brother, he went alone.

“I saw my brother and the accused walking when I drove my car to a sports shop. Some time later I got a call from the accused’s brother who told me that his brother had assaulted my brother who is lying on the street and not able to breathe,” the victim’s brother testified.

ASA asked his brother who was at home to go out and look for the victim.

RSA testified that  he saw his brother lying on the road but not moving. The ambulance then arrived and the victim rushed to the hospital.

Forensic reported that the main causes of the death were head injuries and bleeding due to punches and kicking.

Urine test proved that the accused was under the influence of drugs.

The Court adjourned the case for verdict till November 27.
