2 truck drivers held with 2kg of heroin

Two Pakistanis allegedly possessed more than 2kg of heroin hidden in about 300 capsules intended for sale, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Police received a tip off about NK, 26, driver possessing heroin that he was planning to export from the UAE.

The suspect was put under surveillance and was seen Muraqqabat area driving his truck, heading to Emirates Road.

“He was stopped at Global Village and searching the truck we confiscated 213 capsules wrapped and hidden in a fruit box. The capsules contained a total of 1,635.87kg of heroin,” Second Lieutenant Mayed Khalifa told investigators.

The accused confessed that he had received the drugs from a compatriot identified as ZS, 34, following instructions given to him by a fugitive identified as ‘O’. He admitted that he was supposed to transport the drugs to Saudi Arabia.

ZS was arrested in Muhaisna area and searching his truck police confiscated 82 capsules stuffed with 628.83gms of heroin.

The accused confessed that he was supposed to hand over the drugs to a driver to transport it to Saudi Arabia.

He also admitted that he had handed over heroin capsules to NK.

The court will reconvene on January 18.
