Two jobless Emiratis allegedly broke into a supermarket and carried away two cash boxes besides cigarettes and mobile phone cards, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On March 13, 2012, at around 5am, KA, 59, Indian salesman of the supermarket, received a phone call from a worker of a neighbouring cafeteria telling him that he had seen the back door of the supermarket broken.

“I called the police who arrived at the scene and found missing of two cash boxes that contained Dh4,000 in addition to du phone cards worth Dh6,000. The thieves also stole cigarette boxes and batteries worth Dh10,000. The thieves had cut three locks with a metal saw and broke into the supermarket’s back door,” KA told investigators.

The thieves carried away two cash boxes after cutting the wires that connected them to monitors. Police investigated the complaint and from the modus operandi, they reached two suspects TH, 24, and MF, 21, who admitted to the theft which they had planned.

The Court will reconvene on May 15.
