Three Arab men, who appeared earlier this month before a Dubai Court for breaking coin boxes attached to two children’s game machines, were charged on Thursday of breaking boxes of other eight machines and stealing about Dh6,540.

The records of the two cases showed that the accused had targetted children’s game machines placed in front of supermarkets and restaurants in Nahda and Qusais during February and March 2013. From February 28 to March 3, the thieves broke eight boxes attached to children’s game machines by using tools.

“Money stolen totals about Dh6,540. The thieves also caused damages of Dh10,000 to the boxes,” MN, 30, Syrian, computer network supervisor of the company which owns the machines, told police.

The company supplied the police with footages of cameras fixed at different locations which recorded the thieves in action.

Police investigated the complaint and arrested AS, 21, Egyptian student, and TA, 23, Sudanese supervisor. AS admitted to breaking the machine’s coin boxes together with TA and MM, 20, Jordanian student.

Dh120 was stolen from one of the machines. TA broken the other machines and stole about Dh700.MM was arrested and admitted to taking part in the thefts which were masterminded by AS.

“After midnight, we went to Al Nahda and Al Qusais and broke the boxes attached to the children’s game machines. The money was distributed but I got only Dh30,” MM told investigators.

TA claimed that on February 26, he accompanied AS and MM to Qusais where the two broke coin boxes of some machines. His role was to observe the area. After emptying the boxes, AS and MM divided the money between them.

The Court will reconvene on May 15.

The Court will give its sentence on May 14 in a previous case in which a fourth man, AH, 22, Jordanian student, was jointly accused with the other three. The four are accused of breaking coin boxes of two game machines placed in front of a supermarket in Qusais and stealing Dh2,000.
