Three Asians allegedly posed as CID officers at a massage centre for women, confined the workers and stole cash, mobile phone and tools including CCTV before running away, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Claiming to be CID officers, on April 5, 2015, five men entered the massage centre and asked the Moroccan masseuse at the centre HQ, 30, to present the staff ID’s, mobile phones and handbags in addition to the centre’s licence.

“They asked us to get into one of the massage rooms. One of the attackers stood at the room’s door to prevent us from getting out or seeking help. He was holding handcuffs in his hand and threatened me with them if I tried to get out. The rest of the attackers were stealing our’s and the massage centre’s belongings. One of the attackers came and asked me to show him where the CCTV cameras are located. When I got out, one of the attackers was already removing the cameras. When they finished, they got out and locked the massage centre’s door from outside,” she testified.

The workers discovered that the attackers had stolen their belongings. The Moroccan had Dh15,000, Moroccan dirhams 1,ooo in addition to two mobile phones. DT, 40, Vietnamese, had Dh6,500, and two mobile phones in her bag. NT, 37, Vietnamese massager, had Dh700, $10 and a mobile phone.

The workers called the owner of the centre, DL, 34, and informed her about the attack.

“The attackers stole a computer worth Dh3,400, an anti-virus programme, CCTV cameras of Dh200 value, a sports bag of Dh200 value, three mobile phones and Dh2,700 in cash,” she reported to the police.

Police investigated the complaint and arrested AR, 30, Iranian messenger, and confiscated Dh2,090 from him.

AR admitted that he was the one who planned the robbery and got the biggest portion of the loot. He told the police that he had spent the money in nightclubs and that he meets his crime partners in a coffee shop.

Police arrested AS, 25, and AA, 27, Indians, who were AR’s accomplices in the crime.

The women recognised AR when shown to them via identification parade.

The court will reconvene on April 24.
