A jobless Emirati with an accomplice allegedly attacked three Uzbek in their flat in Naif area and robbed them on knife-point, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On January 1, 2011 at around 11pm, when, FA, was with her aunt and her daughter in the flat, she heard a knock at the door.

"My aunt went and opened the door. Suddenly, I heard screaming and shouting. I rushed out of the kitchen and saw three men in the hall holding knives in their hands.

"I tried to push them out of the flat, but one of them pointed the knife at my shoulder and asked me not to move and to keep silent," testified FA.

The attackers asked the man and his aunt to move to the corner in the hall and one of them guarded them with knife.

The other two went in, searched the two rooms and dragged MA out of from her room to the hall where they were confining her mother and cousin.

The attackers were asking the victims where they kept money and gold while searching the room.

The attackers found four golden rings, 4 pairs of earrings and two mobile phones worth a total of Dh12500 in addition to the women's passports.

They took them all and before leaving they threatened the victims that they will come back and hurt them if they informed the police.

One of the accused was covering his face with his 'ghutra', but later he removed the scarf and so the victims recognised him when shown during identification parade.

The aunt reported the crime to the police.

Police showed them pictures of people with criminal record and they recognised one of them who proved to be a Sharjah resident OI.

After six days, police arrested OI in his flat in Sharjah. A visitor Uzbek woman OE, who was in his flat was also arrested.

He was very confused and told policemen that he will be released very soon as in previous cases. He stressed that they will not be able to prove anything against him.

The accused was aware that police were searching for him.

Police confiscated in his flat, a big collection of jewelleries and mobile phones, large amount of different currencies and watches, in addition to two large knives and detonator.

When asked about the jewellery and mobile phone, he claimed that they belonged to an Indian who stays in Al Manama in Dubai.

However, he failed to guide police to the 'claimed' Indian.

When asked about the currencies he claimed that he usually sells some items to Uzbek and similarly he failed to support his claim.

The woman who was with him denied any relation with the theft, and assured that all of the confiscated items are owned by OI.

She told the police they she knew OI since two years and he was always without work.

However, two months ago, he worked in Deira City Centre, but she does not know the nature of his work.

"A few days earlier, he brought some jewellery and mobile phones. When I asked him about them, he asked me not to touch them saying that they belonged to someone else," she testified.

The victims recognised the accused and some of their belongings were among the confiscated items.

On October 2011, OI, was awarded 2 years jail sentence.

In August 2012, police arrested MK, the second accused in the case.

He admitted to joining OI in attacking the three Uzbeks in their flat and robbing them under knife threat.

The victims recognised MK as one of the three attackers.

The court will reconvene on May 16.
