3 swindle restaurants using fake UAE notes

Police in the eastern oasis town of Al Ain arrested two Arab men and a woman on charges of using fake Dh1,000 notes to buy takeaway meals from local restaurants.

The woman was receiving the food from the delivery man and paying him in fake Dh1,000 notes so he would return change in real currency.

Police searched for the three after some restaurants reported that the notes paid to them were fake and that the woman was using even fake address.

Police later arrested the 43-year-old main culprit who led them to his accomplices. They said the three used fake notes they produced at home with the help of scan machines.

“The woman was also using mobile phones with unregistered SIM cards to order meals from restaurants so she would not be discovered,” ‘Emarat Al Youm’ daily said, quoting Al Ain police chief Brigadier Hamad Al Umaimi.
