35kg gold stolen during World Cup Final

About 35 kilogrammes of gold jewellery was stolen from a leading UAE jewellery store in Rolla, Sharjah, sources said.

The incident took place on Sunday around midnight when the Fifa World Cup 2014 final match was on between Germany and Argentina. Shops generally remain open till midnight during to the holy month of Ramadan in Rolla, Sharjah.

According to sources, the thieves took advantage of the residents' and neighbours' preoccupation with the football match on that night to break into the jewellery store.

The jewellery retailer had not responded to Emirates 24l7's questions till the news went live.
