4-member Afghan gang arrested in Sharjah

Sharjah Police has arrested a four-member gang of Afghan nationals specialising in burglary of shops in the UAE.

Police had received a number of complaints from shop owners about burglary of their shops after breaking down the doors.

A member of the gang was arrested in Ajman. He admitted to burgling a restaurant in a shopping centre in Sharjah along with three compatriots.

They also stole a steel safe with Dh140,000 in cash.

Police investigation revealed that the gang had a number of cars. Tools used to break into shops were found in their house.

Police said all the four people had confessed to planning a burglary on the day of their arrest.

Three member of the gang had criminal records, one of them had entered the UAE illegally and one of them entered the country after being deported.

The accused have been transferred to the public prosecution in Sharjah for completion of legal proceedings against them.
